Jad is a
singer-songwriter who
likes to compose in different
styles: rock, pop, acoustic
songs using Asian melodies
and harmonies and sometimes
blues and country. He
also composes instrumental
solos such as classical
guitar solos, electric
guitar solos, harmonica
solos, and violin solos.
He
found a way to sing based
on and inspired by a
successful traditional
Vietnamese singer, Nhu
Quynh, and for years
had classical singing
teachers who influence
the way he sings.
“My aim is to mix the oriental feeling of Asian singers with the perfect sound
and technique of classical singers. I picked up a bit from my former classical
singing teachers and the wild side of rock, as I’m a rebel. It illustrates who
I am quite well: oriental, pure and rebellious.”
Jad is also a multi-instrumentalist (classical guitar, electric guitar, harmonica,
flute). As a self-taught musician, he developed a personal style with every instrument
he plays.
He also likes dancing and found his own style halfway between the Vietnamese
traditional dance ‘Paris By Night Show’ and the ‘John Travolta’ style. He’s also
currently taking Latino dance lessons.
In comedy, Jad picked up a lot by watching ‘The
Emma Shapplin Show,’ which is
the most intense show he has ever seen. In his own words, “ the dramatic mood
of opera is deeper than an endless raven.” He also improved his facial expressions
by watching Shania Twain’s videos; “her facial expressions, looks and attitudes
are very sexy and sensual without being provocative and perverse which gives
a positive and exciting image of women’s sexuality.”
